‘3 simple things to help own your morning.’
“The ordinary hours that people waste, extra ordinary people leverage.”
-Robin Sharma
Probably the first time in over 5 years where I decided to wake up at 5 am as part of an attempt to better my habits than for any other specific reason. Reading the 5 am club truly changed my life and my lifestyle. It’s this wonderful book by Robin Sharma which teaches you the benefits of waking up early. But don’t get me wrong, its not your usual self-help book. The author takes a novel based approach to share his thoughts and gets you into the flow of why and how to create and develop great habits. So here are 3 things that you can do which would greatly add value to your life. Defined by the 5 am club as the 20/20/20 formula, I would like to share its crux with you.
Spend 20 minutes working out.
Spend the first 20 minutes of your day once you wake up sweating it out. There are great health benefits to sweating first thing in the morning. Benefits I cannot detail here, buy the book to understand the intricacies. For one it gives you a dopamine hit which can surely enhance the start of your day.
Spend 20 minutes reflecting.
Spending the next 20 minutes of your day in reflection, helps you stay calm and grounded for the duration of your day. A factor which greatly influences the decisions I make during my day. As the book says, our capacity to make decisions is limited so use it wisely on the things that matter. Being agitated during the day promotes making bad decisions and wasting the limited energy you have. These 20 minutes can be used by meditating or praying in my opinion. Being thankful for being alive that day, surely adds to your quality of life and peace of mind.
Spend 20 minutes growing.
Spending the next 20 minutes of your day reading up on a topic of interest which would help you enhance your abilities and skills is one such activity. No news. No social media. No Messaging. These 20 minutes are for you, and only for you. You deserve to be the best version that you can. So, utilize this time to do the things that you’ve always wanted to do. Build on your skills that you always said you never found the time to do.
These learnings are entirely from ‘The 5 am club by Robin Sharma’. It really helped me and I hope that reading this post would help you in some way and maybe even convince you to buy the book. To make easier for you, if you would like to buy the book you can simply, click here.
This article is my first attempt at writing. I have never had the habit of writing and my vocabulary, well let’s just say it needs help. This blog is my way of expressing my thoughts and improving my ability to put my thoughts into words. I hope to improve and build on this in the months and years to come because it can only go up from here. Lol. Have a great day.
